She's No Lisa Ling

The View has had an odd dynamic since Star made her grand exit from the show. Elisabeth has been her regular doe eyed, naive, right winged self and, depending upon the guest co-host, has held her own - or not. I'm not really sure what was going on with either her tirade yesterday or the subsequent reaction by Barbara Walters.

It's rare that The View's resident pretty-but-dumb blonde Elisabeth Hasselbeck says more than 3 seconds worth of right-wing drivel, but when she does, it's out of passion. Today the ladies (with special guest co-host Lisa Loeb) discussed the over-the-counter availability of morning-after pill Plan B, and of course this sent young Hasselbeck into a tizzy of earnest "life begins at penetration" arguments, getting herself so worked up that her voice slipped into the trying-not-to-cry quiver.

This is my thing. Everyoone knows which side Elisabeth is coming from even if she is misinformed (and her view of the morning after pill is inaccurate because she seemed to be equating it with abortion. She's not breeding continuously so I assume she is using contraception). She got into it with Joy and the interaction seemed normal. I was a bit surprised that Barbara interjected and seemed to almost scold Elisabeth. Something is going on. I'm not sure how Elisabeth will last through too many shows with Rosie but it seems like there is some underlying tension between she, Barbara and Joy already. She's not my favorite and she's not the brightest crayon in the box but I tolerate her for diversity's sake. It doesn't seem as though her co-hosts do.
