Seeeeeeeeeeeeee!

See! I told y'all Michael Jackson wasn't trying to be white. He can't help it!

Lee Thomas' skin is betraying him.

His once brown, even complexion is now mottled with pale patches around his eyes and mouth, along his nose and on his ears; his arms, shoulders and chest are speckled and blotched.

"I'm a black man turning white on television and people can see it," says Thomas, an anchor and entertainment reporter for the local Fox Broadcasting Company affiliate. "If you've watched me over the years, you've seen my hands completely change from brown to white."

Thomas has vitiligo, a disorder in which pigment-making cells are destroyed. White patches appear on different parts of the body, tissues in the mouth and nose, and the retina.

"There is no cause. There is no cure, and it's very random," Thomas says. "I could turn all the way white or mostly white."

As many as 65 million people worldwide have the disorder, including up to 2 million in the United States.

Few people, outside medical professionals and those with the disease, had heard the term "vitiligo" until Michael Jackson revealed in the early 1990s that the disorder was behind his skin turning brown to white.

There is only so much brown make up this guy can apply every day before he needs to start filling in the brown instead of filling in the white. Folks might still think that MJ wants to be white but this is the story I'm sticking to!

Let The Heffa Burn

Look, I understand how "scary" big black guys are. They've been scary since the first slave ship docked. But when someone is trying to help you and you are being stupid, you get what you get. Thank God, for her, this guy helped her anyway.
Snowplow driver Demetrius Duplessis was determined to pull Khushboo Jani from her burning car -- even if she didn't quite realize she needed rescuing.

Duplessis was driving east on the Eisenhower Expressway at 8 a.m. Saturday when he spotted a black Honda on the left shoulder with flames and smoke billowing from the engine. He pulled over, used his snowplow to block swift-moving traffic and jumped out of his vehicle.

But as Duplessis approached the car, Jani, 22, who was talking to her father on her cell phone, tried to lock the doors.

"I was going to call 911. I saw him and got really scared," said Jani of Schaumburg. "He's like, 'Get out of the car.' I'm like, 'No.' I just thought the engine broke down."

Duplessis knew better.

"I grabbed the door and opened it real quick and snatched her out of the car," he said. "She still didn't realize the car was on fire."

A driver with the Illinois Department of Transportation's Emergency Traffic Patrol quickly doused the flames with a hand-held extinguisher. Jani's car was towed but she still needed to get to Roosevelt University to take a final exam in physics.

"Her biggest concern [was] getting there in time to take the test," Illinois State Police Trooper Greg Jones said. "One of the troopers took her to the college."

Duplessis, 44, of Montgomery has worked as an IDOT snowplow driver for five years. He does not consider himself a hero. However, he said he hopes if his own college-age daughter ever finds herself in a similar predicament that a good Samaritan will be there to help.

Jani, who made it to her exam, was relieved Duplessis came along when he did. "I'm really glad that he did what he did. I'm really grateful for that."

A few years ago, I had manager who came in to work with a story he just had to tell me. On the way home from work the day before, his truck stalled on the high rise of a suspension bridge (I hate that San Mateo bridge out here in the Bay Area). Some big black brotha tries to help him. Of course, he wanted me to know that he was "scared at first" but let the guy help him and he was sooo grateful.

You know he got a blank stare from me!

Same Mess, Different Day?

I just saw this on the news and, honestly, I'd be more irritated by the mess they made than the content. How dare someone deface someone's property?
Police said someone scrawled swastikas and anti-Semitic messages on their home and fence late Saturday or early Sunday.

The victimized family did not want to be identified, but said the crime shattered their holiday spirit.

"You can't miss it, it's horrible, it really is," the homeowner said. "It's kind of hard to feel that someone has this much hatred. That's what's amazing, this much hatred."

The culprits even spray-painted expletives on the driveway.

"It's like it's Germany all over again," neighbor Pat Frankel said. "It's terrible in this day and age for people to do something, no that's not right. It's back to Hitler."

A teenage girl who lives in the vandalized home said she believes she was the target. She said she had an altercation with some kids at school and she thinks they were trying to "pay me back."

"It hurts me a lot," she said.

Police are investigating the case as a hate crime and the FBI is involved since some of the hateful messages spilled onto the street, which is public property.

The sad thing is that I don't necessarily believe this was a neo-Nazt/KKK type hate crime. I think that we've raised a full generation of "children" who have no concept of what this kind of thing really means. With everything being so immediate in reach history, even if it only 20 years ago, is ancient to them. I'll be surprised if these weren't some stupid kids with too much time and no clue and no sensitivity as to what they've done.

More than 10 years ago, I worked with a young guy who claimed German heritage. His girlfriend at the time (I believe wife now) was Iranian/Persian. He grew up comparatively poor for this area and most of his friends were minorities. He even said once that he didn't date white girls because he felt they were more likely to cheat. Yet, one day, he said that his grandfather had been a Nazi in Germany and, in an off the cuff manner, clicked his heels, did a salute and said "Heil Hitler!" Another day, I used a "big word" that he didn't really understand and the first thing out of his mouth was ":who are you supposed to be? Mike Tyson?" (okay, that had happened to me before where some dumb white person's vocabulary didn't match mine). I was insulted and called him on it. He was soooo upset that I implied he was racist. He didn't even come to work the next day. I don't think he was consciously racist. BUT, I don't think that he really got how inappropriate and STUPID the Hitler comment was nor why it was an affront to me to compare me to someone like Mike Tyson because I used a multi-syllabic word that he hadn't heard before.

I don't think these things necessarily happen because of rabid hate anymore. I think they happen because of sheer ignorance and insensitivity. Still, I'm shocked that people don't related to one another any better than that. What can we do?

Long Time Running

I feel bad for them but they need to get a clue that neither the C.I.A. nor America care.
They call themselves America’s forgotten soldiers.

Four decades after the Central Intelligence Agency hired thousands of jungle warriors to fight Communists on the western fringes of the Vietnam War, men who say they are veterans of that covert operation are isolated, hungry and periodically hunted by a Laotian Communist government still mistrustful of the men who sided with America.

“If I surrender, I will be punished,” said Xang Yang, a wiry 58-year-old still capable of crawling nimbly through thick bamboo underbrush. “They will never forgive me. I cannot live outside the jungle because I am a former American soldier.”

In a small hillside clearing about nine miles east of the Mekong River, Mr. Yang and four other veterans scratch out a primitive existence with their wives and 50 children and grandchildren. Their hidden jungle encampment is a 15-hour walk up and down low-lying mountains from the nearest paved road, across streams that are knee-deep in the dry season but can become roaring torrents when the monsoon comes.

Mr. Yang said his group had been attacked by the Laotian Army twice this year. In September, soldiers killed a 5-year-old boy, whose grave is on the outskirts of the camp. In May, a predawn raid killed a woman and her 2-year-old child. The group moves camp every few weeks to avoid attack, he said.

They are often miles from any rice paddies or hamlets, but sometimes they travel at night, with their AK-47s, to get supplies from sympathetic farmers. They say they got their guns and uniforms from Laotian troops who fled a firefight in 1999.

The C.I.A. operation, from 1961 until 1975, became known as the secret war because, unlike in Vietnam, America’s military involvement in Laos was covert. Instead of sending American ground troops to prevent a Communist takeover here, the C.I.A. hired tens of thousands of mercenaries, most of whom were Hmong, a hill-dwelling ethnic minority.

Today, the number of Hmong veterans and their families who remain hidden in the jungle is somewhere in the hundreds to low thousands, estimates Amy Archibald, a spokeswoman for the United States Embassy in Vientiane, the capital.

Truly, what can we do some 30+ years later? Air lift them and bring them here? That should have been done long ago.

We've Got A Lot More Shaming To Do

If that is what it takes to curb this backwards barbarism, so be it.
Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has pardoned a female rape victim who had been sentenced to 200 lashes for being alone with a man at the time of the attack who was not related to her, a Saudi newspaper reported Monday.

The case had sparked international outcry. In a rare criticism of its Mideast ally, the White House had expressed its "astonishment" over the woman's sentence. Canada called it barbaric.

Saudi Justice Minister Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Sheik told al-Jazirah newspaper that the pardon does not mean the king doubted the country's judges, but instead acted in the "interests of the people."

"The king always looks into alleviating the suffering of the citizens when he becomes sure that these verdicts will leave psychological effects on the convicted people, though he is convinced and sure that the verdicts were fair," al-Jazirah quoted al-Sheik as saying.

The victim in the case, known only as the "Girl of Qatif" after her hometown in eastern Saudi Arabia, was in a car with a high school friend in 2006 when they were attacked and raped by seven men.

She initially was sentenced in November 2006 to several months in prison and 90 lashes for being alone in a car with a man with whom she was neither related nor married, a violation of the kingdom's strict segregation of the sexes.

The woman, who was 19 at the time of the rape, has said she met the man to retrieve a picture of herself from him because she had recently married.

The court more than doubled the sentence last month to 200 lashes and six months prison in response to her appeal.

President Bush expressed anger at the sentence earlier this month, saying he wondered how he would react if it had been one of his daughters. But he said he had not made his views known directly to the Saudi king, a U.S. ally.

Of course Bush didn't make his views known to his friend the King. He only talks to him about war and oil.

Fans Not Feeling Oprah's Obamamania

Looks like some Oprah fans are starting to show their true colors. They don't mind her book, movie and "favorite things" recommendations but let her have an opinion about a political candidate and all of the sudden she's color struck.
"Oprah," says one, "count me as tuned out for now." Another writes, "It's a real turn off for a lot of your fans." And yet another says "She has crossed a line and lost my trust completely."

But, what's especially interesting about reading Oprah's Web site is why some of those fans seem to be upset: the way she stumped for Obama, they say, seemed to pit white against black.

"I've been inspired to believe that a new vision is possible for America," Oprah said while on the stump with Obama in South Carolina. "Dr. King dreamed the dream, we get to vote that dream into reality."

Back on Oprah's Web site, one commenter wrote, "Winfrey has artfully begun her stump speeches alongside Obama with a negative racial tone."

And another commenter wrote, "Don't pit blacks against whites."

Interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America Wednesday, Winfrey rejected the notion she is supporting Obama merely because he is black.

"I get a little..I guess the word is 'offended,'" Winfrey said. "To think that I would be supporting someone just because of their skin would mean we haven't moved far from Dr. King's speech in 1963, where he said we should be judged by the content of our character not the color of their skin."

In another interview, Winfrey told CNN that she weighed carefully whether she should get involved in politics, wondering whether she would "lose viewers as a result."

"I made the decision that I have the right to do it as an American citizen," she said.

I don't see the big deal. I don't recall her telling people how to vote. I recall her saying that Obama was her choice. I'll never understand why people are so threatened by an opinion. Her fans can vote for Huckabee if they so choose. It seems as though some of these people feel as though Oprah is putting them on the spot. I think the real deal is that they are questioning their own issues with color and perhaps, deep down, they know that they won't support Obama just because he is black.

From the beginning, I've dreaded things like this. I know how ugly people can be and even the biggest Oprah fans are now turning tail as though she's done something to them personally. Even if this were an issue of Oprah supporting Obama because he was black, who cares? Millions of women will support Hilary because she is a woman and many more white men will support a white man on general principle alone. Other ethnic groups are always praised for "sticking together" and building each other up - unless they are black. Then panic sets in and whites go cuckoo calling it racist.

Oprah is supporting Obama as a private citizen who believes in him. I'm still not sure which way my vote will go but, like Oprah, every citizen should be stumping or at least spreading the word about the candidate of their choice. It's a privilege and a duty.

Ain't Trying To "Help Ike" No More

Tina can probably honestly say "It was the best of times. It was the worst of times." On the one hand, she wouldn't be "Tina Turner" without having met him and endured him. On the other hand, she wouldn't be "Tina Turner" without having met him and endured him. I hope he evolved over the years but Tina's not missing him at all.
Tina Turner's rep issued the following statement about the death of the music legend's former husband Ike.

"Tina is aware that Ike passed away earlier today," the rep told TMZ. "She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

Simply the best.

As a side note, I've never been able to look at Laurence Fishsburne in the same light since "What's Love Got To Do With It." I saw him on a talk show later and he made some comment like "Everybody has a little Ike in him." Somehow it made me feel that he wasn't really acting in that movie. He's creeped me out ever since!

Finders Keepers?

Is this guy kidding? If a kid find some loose change under the cushions of my sofa, I'd probably let them keep it. But a contractor finding money in my walls? Puleese! How does this man think he is entitled to this money?
Multiply that feeling by 18,200 and you will understand how Lakewood home-improvement contractor Bob Kitts felt when he pulled a giant cache of Depression-era cash from the walls of an 83-year-old Cleveland home he was renovating.

As he was ripping plaster from bathroom-wall studs, Kitts found bundles of bills totaling $182,000 wrapped in pre-World War II Plain Dealer news pages and tucked into boxes. The money is in such good condition, and some of the bills are so rare and collectible, that one currency appraiser valued the treasure at up to $500,000, Kitts said.

But there's a hitch:

The walls from which Kitts pulled the money aren't his walls. The house isn't his house. Nobody knows for certain whose money it is.

Yet Kitts claims it as his own. He and his lawyer have dusted off an obscure, centuries-old legal doctrine called "treasure trove" - a common-law finders-keepers provision - that they believe gives him top claim to the wealth.

Kitts' lawyer has drafted a lawsuit that he hopes will force Amanda Reece to turn over the money she has kept, or at least share it.

Then again, he may not be a cent richer. Several court rulings have established precedent that undermines the applicability of the treasure-trove doctrine under these circumstances, said Reece's lawyer, John Chambers.

Reece would have accommodated Kitts, but the handyman got greedy, Chambers said. Now Reece has no intention of backing down in the face of what she considers a shakedown.

People never cease to amaze me. I heard on the news that the woman offered him ten percent but he wants the whole shebang of what he found in HER HOUSE. I hope he ends up having to pay her legal fees for all of this greed-based foolishness. She was generous to offer him ten percent. What a frickin' loser!

I don't know how this will turn out, and I'm not taking sides, but the contractor only FOUND, by himself, $25,000. And that's all he deserves. Because of his greed, this amounts to only 5%. The rest belongs to the owner of the home. And I agree, he does need to pay for the owner's legal fees.

See What Happens When You Shake That Family Tree?

So I guess he's probably going to claim that the African genes are recessive ...
A Nobel Prize-winning scientist who provoked a public outcry by claiming black Africans were less intelligent than whites has a DNA profile with up to 16 times more genes of black origin than the average white European.

An analysis of the genome of James Watson showed that 16 per cent of his genes were likely to have come from a black ancestor of African descent. By contrast, most people of European descent would have no more than 1 per cent.

"This level is what you would expect in someone who had a great-grandparent who was African," said Kari Stefansson of deCODE Genetics, whose company carried out the analysis. "It was very surprising to get this result for Jim."

The findings were made available after Dr Watson became only the second person to publish his fully sequenced genome online earlier this year. Dr Watson was forced to resign his post as head of a research laboratory in New York shortly after triggering an international furore by questioning the comparative intelligence of Africans. In an interview during his recent British book tour, the American scientist said he was "inherently gloomy about the prospects for Africa" because "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours – whereas all the testing says not really".

The Science Museum in London cancelled a lecture by him, while the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, branded his comments "racist propaganda".

Other scientists working in the field of molecular biology quickly distanced themselves from the comments, saying that it was not possible to draw such conclusions from the work that had been done on DNA.

The study of the DNA of Dr Watson – who shared the 1962 Nobel Prize for medicine – adds another twist to the controversy surrounding the American scientist's comments.

In addition to the 16 per cent of his genes which were identified as likely to have come from a black ancestor of African descent, a further 9 per cent were likely to have come from an ancestor of Asian descent, the test indicated.

Among The Things That Are Going Oh So Well In Iraq

Not!

Guerrillas deployed a roadside bomb to kill the police chief of Hilla, a largely Shiite city south of Baghdad.

AP reports that "Religious vigilantes have killed at least 40 women this year in the southern Iraqi city of Basra because of how they dressed, their mutilated bodies found with notes warning against "violating Islamic teachings . . ."

One of the problems with how the US press tends to cover Iraq is that they often leave out the Shiite south because there are few US troops down there, apparently assuming that it is relatively stable. Not.

Ned Parker of the LA Times writes that Iraq has not been so much pacified as Balkanized.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I could try to be appalled if this weren't so ridiculously funny!
This was REALLY not kosher. A grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as "Delicious for Chanukah."

Chanukah, an alternate spelling for Hanukkah, is the eight-day Jewish holiday that began Tuesday evening, and hams as well as pork and other products from pigs can't be eaten under Jewish dietary laws.
Don't believe it? Well take a gander at the evidence.

War on Christmas, my arse.

Come on folks! Who would do this?

Indulging in some crisp bacon or sausage for breakfast is one thing. Actually buying a Hannukah ham is another. It's just the idea that someone would put up the promotional sign when they obviously have no clue. Still, it's funny as heck.

CIA Destroyed Tapes

... and they admitted it with a lame excuse.
The CIA videotaped its interrogations of two top terror suspects in 2002 and destroyed the tapes three years later out of fear they would leak to the public and compromise the identities of U.S. questioners, the director of the agency told employees Thursday.

The disclosure brought immediate condemnation from Capitol Hill and from a human rights group which charged the spy agency's action amounted to criminal destruction of evidence.

CIA Director Michael Hayden said the CIA began taping the interrogations as an internal check on the program after President Bush authorized the use of harsh questioning methods. The methods included waterboarding, which simulates drowning, government officials said.

"The Agency was determined that it proceed in accord with established legal and policy guidelines. So, on its own, CIA began to videotape interrogations," Hayden said in a written message to CIA employees, obtained by The Associated Press.

The CIA decided to destroy the tapes in "the absence of any legal or internal reason to keep them," Hayden wrote. He said the tapes were destroyed only after it was determined "they were no longer of intelligence value and not relevant to any internal, legislative or judicial inquiries."

"The tapes posed a serious security risk," Hayden wrote. "Were they ever to leak, they would permit identification of your CIA colleagues who had served in the program, exposing them and their families to retaliation from al-Qaida and its sympathizers."

Funny, the White House had no problem leaking Valerie Plame's identity. They must have done some treacherous stuff to make these people confess to god knows what.

Protecting A Mommy That Doesn't Protect You

This child took six bullets for her mother is being hailed as an "angel from heaven" . That's both tragic and wonderful. My question is why she'd ever be in that situation.
A 7-year-old-girl is being hailed as an "angel from heaven" and a hero for jumping in front of an enraged gunman, who pumped six bullets into the child as she used her body as a shield to save her mother's life.

Alexis Goggins, a first-grader at Campbell Elementary School, is in stable condition at Children's Hospital in Detroit recovering from gunshot wounds to the eye, left temple, chin, cheek, chest and right arm.

"She is an angel from heaven," said Aisha Ford, a family friend for 15 years who also was caught up in the evening of terror.

The girl's mother, Selietha Parker, 30, was shot in the left side of her head and her bicep by a former boyfriend, who police said was trying to kill Parker. The gunman was disarmed by police and arrested at the scene of the shooting, a Detroit gas station. Police identified him as Calvin Tillie, 29, a four-time convicted felon whom Parker had dated for six months

So, was it a secret that this dude was a four-time convicted felon? Even one conviction would have been enough for me to not want this man around me and my child. They can fluff this little girl up to be an angel and a hero if they want to but she is going to be scarred for life (mentally and physically) behind this ... all because mom decided to date someone with a criminal past. Women make bad choices with men all of the time but there are some choices that clearly can result in a bad outcome. Dating someone with a felony prison record is a bad choice - especially when you have a child.

The same thing could be said about a lot of women - some of them don't have children, but the result is the same.

We really can't know for sure what is going on in someone else's life - I know from my own experience that people lie about their pasts, and I've even had guys stop dating me because I "investigated" the things they told me.

Fool Azz Fool!

Here we go again! One more fool who had no business breeding!
A Jacksonville man was recently arrested after police said he seriously beat his 13-year-old son while the boy was at school on the Westside.

Henry Crimes, a Paxon Middle School student's father, is charged with child abuse.

Crimes' seventh-grade son allegedly was beaten with a belt. A police report states that after the attack the boy was shaking and had a large cut above his eye, a swollen arm and bruises.

According to the police report, the boy's gym teacher, Aaron Jackson, told Crimes to come to Paxon and bring a belt.

The police report says Crimes told investigators, "Coach Jackson sent a child with his key to open the door so I could beat my child for misbehaving. I hit my son with the belt about twice and he fell down. I told him to get up. When he got up, I hit him some more, then he fell again. When my son got up again, I hit him a few more times, then I made him go to Coach Jackson to apologize …"

Crimes was arrested and Jackson has been removed from the classroom while the incident is investigated.

Woosah!

Only God can help this chick!

For whatever reason, the ladies on "The View" were discussing ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus this morning. Naturally, talk soon migrated to the topic of religion, and Sherri "I don't know if the world is flat" Shepherd came out to play. More specifically, to spew ignorance and a complete lack of understanding of basic world history! Discussing whether Christians were around during Epicurus' time (Epicurus lived from 341-270 B.C.), Sherri chimed in, "[The Greeks] had Christians 'cause they threw them to the lions."

When Whoopi tried to cautiously navigate her through the timeline of basic world events, saying, "I think this might predate that," Sherri responded, "I don't think anything predated Christians." Joy's attempt to explain the Greek-Roman-Christian chronology was futile, as Sherri insisted, "Jesus came first before them." Sherri's argument was all the more powerful due to her convincing "use your finger to write on the table" trick, but she can't fight the facts. Perhaps if Barbara were on today she would have explained THAT WHOLE B.C. THING (you know, as in, Before Christ).

Watch:

Oddly, I got into a similar debate with someone a couple years ago. Someone on one of my yahoogroups wanted people to co-sign with her decision to return a Buddha statue to someone who'd returned from vacation and given them to the staff as a souvenir. She took offense and thought the guy should have known that she was Christian and could not believe that he would give her a Buddha. I explained that it wasn't that deep and that, to many, a Buddha was a good luck charm like a rabbit's foot ... that he probably wasn't making a religious statement ... that we had a wooden Buddha statue on our bookcase when I was a kid and we used to rub its belly for good luck ... We were Catholic ... She could have just graciously accepted the gift then tossed it out later ...

WWIII almost ensued and it turned into a humongous religious battle. I mentioned that perhaps she didn't realize that Buddhism was founded before Christianity and that's when she went into her Sherri-like tirade about God always being there ... that Christ was God and therefore he was there before Buddha ... I had to stop commenting there because I was talking about a historic time line on the religions of the world and she was spouting scriptures. Ultimately, up until a year later, was launching personal attacks at me on nearly everything simply because I explained history. Sherri is not alone in her thought process.

Gentlemen In The Street, Thugs In The Bedroom

Just when I thought I was done being shocked and appalled, someone sends this link to my inbox. It used to be black boys and men could be killed for even looking at a white woman. Now white men are paying to see their wives have raw sex with them?

They're gentlemen in the street, thugs in the bedroom, and your wife's steamiest fantasy.

Jeff didn't always like black guys. He was prejudiced—he admits it. As one of the few white kids at his school in the southeast of Washington, D.C., he fought a lot with black kids and was occasionally beaten up. When he later ran a string of gas stations, he was robbed: A black guy held a gun to his head and pulled the trigger—but the gun didn't go off.

"Honestly, that experience helped me a lot," he says. "I used to be very conservative. I didn't spend much money. Now I enjoy life. I'm much more open. Especially sexually."

It's a measure of how far he's come that Jeff (not his real name), now 40, is telling me this while we're watching a black guy have sex with his wife, Amber (not her real name), 37, at an interracial orgy. In Jeff's house. On his bed. The man screwing Jeff's wife is Branford (not his real name), a 30-year-old massage therapist who's not holding back—this isn't lovemaking, this is a proper pounding. Forget Amber—that's just how Jeff likes it.

I guess I'll just skip the commentary. I'm sure this probably isn't new or news but, I'm spent.

Calgon Take Her Away

Okay, here's a place she doesn't need to visit again. Some say she should have known better. I disagree. She wasn't teaching in an Islamic school. Kids are kids and, like kids all over the world, want to name pets and toys after someone/something familiar. I'm glad she's being released from this backwardness.
A UK teacher has been released and handed over to British officials in Sudan after being jailed for letting her class name a teddy bear Muhammad.

Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, was freed after eight days in custody. She had been given a 15-day jail term.

Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir pardoned her after talks with two British Muslim peers.

In a statement, Mrs Gibbons apologised for "any distress". UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he was "delighted".

Mother-of-two Mrs Gibbons has been released into the care of the British embassy in Khartoum, but her exact location has not been disclosed.

She was released four days after receiving a 15-day sentence for insulting religion.

Earlier, a demonstration of about 30 or 40 people was held outside the embassy in Khartoum, with banners protesting about the decision to release her.

Has anyone thought about the children? These kids are still at the age where a teacher is almost mom. How must they feel knowing their teacher got in trouble because of something that was their idea? They must be crushed.

Well, There Ya Go!

Whew! Let's twist that Bible and the "good news" of Jesus Christ a little bit more ...
Huckabee dodged the question that time. But in 1997, Huckabee claimed that Jesus would have agreed with him on supporting the death penalty. Shortly before a triple execution in Arkansas in Jan. 1997, a caller called into Huckabee's show on Arkansas Educational Television Network and asking how he squared his Christian teachings with his support for the death penalty. As the Arkansas Times reported on Jan. 22, 1997:

"Interestingly enough," Huckabee allowed, "if there was ever an occasion for someone to have argued against the death penalty, I think Jesus could have done so on the cross and said, 'This is an unjust punishment and I deserve clemency'."

Last I heard, Jesus wasn't out to save himself. He was out to save us. Wasn't his death on the cross the whole purpose of him being sent here in the first place?
